Stormwater StoryState and federal law requires large urban jurisdictions to control stormwater pollution to the maximum extent practicable (MEP). Stormwater best management practices (BMPs) temporarily store and treat stormwater runoff to stop flooding and reduce pollution entering waterways. This story map is an educational tool to educate and promote an understanding of stormwater management efforts across the State of Maryland. It highlights how BMPs can improve the health of the waters and the health of a community. Examples include BMPs that are successfully implemented and those that do not meet project goals to show how future applications can be improved to be more functional.

Maryland Archaeology Story MapMaryland Archaeology is an interactive online story map tour highlighting archaeological sites studied by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) for over the past 30 years. Before MDOT constructs a highway project, its archaeologists assist the planning team to avoid, minimize or mitigate impacts to cultural resources. While most of this research is related to Federal and State requirements, some historic sites are studied in partnership with local agencies. As part of MDOT’s commitment to public outreach, we have compiled some of the State’s most exciting discoveries.
