Software GraphicAll Esri software, available through the Maryland GIS  Software Master Contract, must first be downloaded, installed and authorized. The following top-level Esri products are available through the GIS Software Master Contract:

  • Esri Desktop Software (Single Use and Concurrent Use)
  • Most Desktop Extensions (Single Use and Concurrent Use)
  • ArcGIS Pro (Single Use and Concurrent Use)
  • ArcGIS Server Software
  • Esri Developer Network (EDN) Licenses

Software Download
Esri Desktop software can be downloaded from the GIO Download Site.

  1. Go to the GIO Download Site​
  2. Click on the folder of the desired software.
  3. Click on the download file (.zip or .msp) to be downloaded to the local machine.

This site is only accessible to State agencies on the Statewide Government Intranet (SwGI) network. If you do not have access to the SwGI network, please contact the DoIT Service Desk at service.desk@maryland.gov. A GIO Office representative will contact you to determine an alternative software delivery method.

Software Installation
All Esri software products include installation wizards to guide you through the process. Most of the software requires uninstalling existing versions before installing new versions of the software on a local machine. Please note that administrative privileges are required on the local machine to complete the installation process.

  1. After completing the software download, extract all files from the .zip or .msp file to the local machine.
  2. Within the extracted files, click on the ESRI.exe file to begin the installation wizard.
  3. Follow all steps of the wizard to complete the installation.

Software Authorization/Licensing​
Software authorization is unique based on the license type requested. The licensing portion of this site will provide details concerning available license types and instructions on how to request and authorize the various license types.​​​​​​​​​
