The State of Maryland LiDAR initiative provides multiple options for users interested in exploring Maryland's elevation data. The initiative is managed by the Maryland Department of Information Technology (DoIT) Geographic Information Office (GIO Office) with assistance from the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative (ESRGC).
Funding for LiDAR in the state of Maryland comes from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and county and local partners.
Download Focused AreasThe Maryland Statewide LiDAR Download Tool is a web application that enables users to perform custom downloads from LiDAR collections. This tool is recommended when downloading focused areas of interest.
Download Pre-Defined DEMsDigital Elevation Models (DEMs) are a popular elevation product and are available for download for the most current year in Esri GRID format. These files can be used to generate derivative products such as slope, aspect, hillshade and shaded relief. Download files are by county and include metadata, .ovr pyramids and bare earth DEMs.
Download Pre-Defined Point Cloud DataPoint clouds are large datasets composed of 3D point data, which include x, y, and z. The files are divided into blocks and are available for download in the form of compressed LAS files, known as LAZ.
